On 17 September 2026 I opened the Lovable plan table in a browser, clicked the credit dropdown on the Business card, and scrolled to the last rung: 10,000 credits for $4,300 a month. Several of the highest-ranking pages about Lovable pricing still describe a single flat monthly fee. That gap is the whole problem.
Lovable's price is not a ticket, it is a meter. You are not buying a seat on the platform for thirty days. You are buying a quantity of work, and the meter runs in three places at once: while you build, while your app stays online, and while the people using your app trigger AI features inside it. Once you see the meter instead of the ticket, the plan table stops being confusing and starts being arithmetic.
This article compares the Free, Pro and Business plans as they stood on 17 September 2026, with every number read off Lovable's own pricing page and documentation rather than a secondary blog. You will get the full credit ladder for both paid plans, the annual rates that almost nobody publishes, what the Free plan actually gives you, what an average build really costs, and the five pricing mistakes that turn a cheap side project into an unexpected monthly line item.
Annual billing on the live Lovable plan table, captured 17 September 2026. Switching to yearly drops Pro from $25 to $21 a month and Business from $50 to $42.
What Lovable Pricing Actually Buys You
Every Lovable plan resolves to one number: how many credits land in your workspace each month. A credit is the unit Lovable uses to meter work, and the same balance covers three separate things.
- Building. Every message you send while creating or editing an app draws down credits.
- Cloud. Hosting your published app and running its built-in backend, meaning the database, storage and authentication.
- AI features in your deployed app. If the app you shipped calls a model at runtime, your users spend your credits.
That third line is the one people miss. A budgeting tool that summarises spending with a model is not free to run once it is live. Every summary a user generates comes out of the same balance you use to build.
Credits are not equal across plans either. Lovable's pricing page states plainly that the value of a credit and the rate it is consumed depend on your subscription, and that credits are not necessarily equal in value across different plans. So a headline credit count only means something next to the plan it sits on.
$25 a month buys 100 credits on Pro. $50 a month buys the same 100 credits on Business. The extra $25 is not more capacity, it is governance.
Why Lovable Pricing Confuses Almost Everyone
Three things make this harder than it should be, and none of them are the buyer's fault.
The plan table is rendered in the browser. Open the pricing page with a scraper and you get very little. That is why so many comparison posts quote figures that were accurate months ago. Every price in this article came from the page with the credit dropdown open.
The credit count is a dropdown, not a price. Pro and Business are not two prices, they are two ladders. Pro runs from 20 credits at $5 a month up to 10,000 credits at $2,250. Business starts at 100 credits for $50 and runs to 10,000 credits for $4,300, with a stated 14 percent saving at the top rung. Quoting "Pro is $25" describes one rung of twelve.
Annual billing is a separate table again. The monthly and yearly toggle carries a "2 months free" badge, and the discount is real: Pro at 100 credits drops from $25 to $21 a month billed annually, and Business at 100 credits drops from $50 to $42. At the top of the Business ladder the gap is larger, $4,300 monthly against $3,584 a month on an annual commitment.
Add a Free tier that is measured in daily grants rather than monthly credits, and it is easy to see why two people can read the same page and come away with different numbers.
Lovable Free vs Pro vs Business at a Glance
All figures verified on lovable.dev/pricing and docs.lovable.dev on 17 September 2026.
| Plan | Entry price | What you get monthly | Who it is for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | No subscription credits. 5 build credits a day capped at 30 a month, 20 Cloud credits, 4 AI credits | Trying the product and small experiments |
| Pro | $25/mo, or $21/mo billed annually | From 100 credits, plus 5 daily build credits with no monthly cap | Solo builders and small teams shipping real apps |
| Business | $50/mo, or $42/mo billed annually | From 100 credits, plus the same daily grants | Teams that need access control, SSO and data governance |
| Enterprise | Platform fee, volume based | Negotiated | Large organisations needing audit logs, SCIM and custom terms |
The feature line that matters most for anyone handling money data is not in the price at all. Workspace data is excluded from AI model training by default only on Business and Enterprise. On Free and Pro it is an opt-out you have to set per account. If you are building anything that touches customer financial records, read that row twice.
How to Choose Your Lovable Plan in Four Steps
Do not start from the plan table. Start from your own usage, then buy the rung that matches it.
Step 1: Measure your burn on the Free plan first
The Free plan gives you 5 build credits every day, resetting at 00:00 UTC, capped at 30 per calendar month. That is enough to build something small and, more usefully, enough to learn what your prompts cost. Lovable publishes its own worked examples: "Make the button gray" costs 0.50 credits, "Remove the footer" 0.90, "Add authentication with sign up and login" 1.20, and "Build me a landing page, use images" 1.70.
1.70 credits is what Lovable's own documentation lists for generating a landing page with images, a theme and five sections. Measure a week of your real prompts against that scale before you pay for anything.
Step 2: Count the free daily credits you are about to stop ignoring
On Pro and Business the 5 daily build credits continue, and they carry no monthly cap. That is up to 150 build credits a month sitting outside your plan balance. Almost every pricing comparison omits this, and it materially changes the arithmetic on the lowest rungs.
150 build credits a month are granted daily and separately from your plan balance on Pro and Business. They expire at the end of each day and never roll over, so they reward steady daily work rather than weekend sprints.
Step 3: Pick the rung, not the plan
Once you know your monthly burn, read the ladder. If you consistently need 400 credits, Pro at 400 costs $100 a month rather than four separate top-ups at a worse rate. Lovable's own documentation says that if you consistently need more credits each month, upgrading your plan is usually better value than repeated top-ups.
Lovable's published Business tier table, monthly and annual columns, read on 17 September 2026. The Pro ladder runs on exactly the same rungs at roughly half the price.
Step 4: Decide whether you need Business or just want it
Business costs twice Pro per credit from the 100 rung through the 5,000 rung. You are not buying throughput, you are buying a team workspace, role-based access, single sign-on, internal publish, a security centre, design templates, priority support, and the default exclusion of your workspace data from model training.
Lovable's pricing FAQ is unusually direct about this. It says the higher price reflects the additional features Business adds on top of Pro, and that the cost of running your app and of AI features inside it is the same on both plans. A team moving from Pro to Business will actually see recorded credit usage for hosting and AI go down, because credits are priced higher on Business.
If you are one person building a portfolio tracker, Pro is the honest answer. If two or more people touch the workspace, or the app stores anyone's financial data but your own, Business is the plan that carries the controls. You can start on the Business plan here, or if you would rather have someone set the workspace up correctly the first time, you can hire a certified Lovable Expert through the partner directory.
Real Lovable Cost Examples
Three scenarios, priced at the 17 September 2026 rates.
A weekend prototype. You want to see whether a dividend tracker idea holds up. Free plan, 30 build credits across the month, no card. At Lovable's published example costs that is roughly 20 to 30 meaningful edits. Enough to validate the shape of the thing, not enough to finish it.
A solo builder shipping one live app. Pro at 100 credits, $25 a month, or $250 a year which works out at $21 a month. Add the 150 daily build credits and you have real headroom, provided the app itself is quiet. My own workspace sits on exactly this tier.
A two-person team with a client-facing dashboard. Business at 200 credits, $100 a month or $1,000 a year. That buys role-based access, SSO, internal publish and, critically, the default training exclusion. For anything holding other people's money data, that row is the reason to be on Business rather than Pro.
My own Lovable workspace on 17 September 2026: the Pro plan at 100 credits a month, 31.2 credits remaining, and the 5 daily build credits shown separately.
Note what that panel shows. The 31.2 remaining credits carry an explicit expiry date, and the daily build credits are counted on their own line. Lovable is not hiding the meter, but you do have to go and read it.
Five Lovable Pricing Mistakes That Cost Real Money
Mistake 1: Assuming credits sit there forever
They do not. On monthly billing, unused plan credits expire two months after they are issued. On annual billing they expire one month after the annual period ends. Top-up credits last twelve months from purchase, and the daily build grants expire at the end of each day. Buying a big tier to "stock up" for a project you will start next quarter is how people quietly lose money.
| Credit type | How long it lasts | Rolls over? |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly plan credits | Expire 2 months after they are issued | Yes, within plan limits |
| Annual plan credits | Expire 1 month after the annual period ends | Yes, with higher limits than monthly |
| Top-up credits | 12 months from the date of purchase | Not applicable, they sit in the balance |
| Daily build credits | End of the same day, 00:00 UTC reset | No, never |
| Monthly Cloud and AI grants | End of the calendar month on Free, end of the billing cycle on paid plans | No |
Mistake 2: Forgetting that a live app spends credits
Hosting, the built-in database, storage, authentication and any model call your app makes at runtime all draw on the same balance. A dashboard with real users is a recurring cost, not a one-time build cost. Lovable includes a monthly grant of 20 Cloud credits and 4 AI credits on every plan, Free included, which covers a quiet app and not much more.
Mistake 3: Letting the balance hit zero on a live product
This is the expensive one. When a workspace runs out of credits, building stops, in-progress work pauses, AI features in deployed apps stop working, and the built-in backend services pause shortly afterwards. Lovable's documentation is explicit that your database, storage and authentication data stays safe while paused, but that you cannot access or export it until the services run again.
Read that as a finance builder: a zero balance does not just stop your next feature, it takes your users' data offline and locks your own export path until you pay. If anything you have shipped matters, enable auto top-up and set the threshold above a single day of usage.
Mistake 4: Buying top-ups instead of the right rung
Top-ups are one-time Stripe purchases, valid for twelve months, available on Pro and Business only. They are the correct tool for an unusual month. They are the wrong tool for a pattern. Lovable itself says that if you consistently need more credits each month, moving up a rung is usually better value.
Mistake 5: Treating Business as Pro with a bigger number
Business is not more capacity. Per credit it is exactly twice the price of Pro across most of the ladder. Everything you are paying for is governance: the team workspace, role-based access, SSO, the security centre, internal publish, and the default exclusion of workspace data from model training. If none of those words describe a problem you currently have, you are not the Business customer yet.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Lovable free to use?
Yes, to a point. The Free plan has no subscription credits, but it grants 5 build credits a day capped at 30 a calendar month, plus 20 Cloud credits and 4 AI credits a month. You can build and publish. You cannot edit code, use a custom domain, remove the badge, roll credits over or buy top-ups.
How much does Lovable cost per month in 2026?
Pro starts at $5 a month for 20 credits and $25 a month for 100 credits, rising through twelve rungs to $2,250 for 10,000 credits. Business starts at $50 a month for 100 credits and runs to $4,300 for 10,000. Annual billing carries a "2 months free" badge, bringing the 100 credit rungs to $21 and $42 a month respectively. All figures read on 17 September 2026.
Do Lovable credits roll over?
Plan credits roll over on Pro and Business, within limits, and annual billing carries higher rollover limits than monthly. They do not roll over indefinitely: monthly plan credits expire two months after issue. Daily build credits never roll over.
Does Lovable charge per seat or per user?
No. Workspaces support unlimited members on every plan, and plans are priced by the credits they include. Inviting more people does not change your subscription cost, it changes how fast the shared balance drains. That is why per-member credit limits exist on the paid plans.
Why is the Lovable Business plan more expensive than Pro?
Because of what it adds, not what it multiplies. Lovable's pricing FAQ says the higher price reflects the additional features Business brings for teams and larger organisations, and states that the cost of running an app and of in-app AI features is the same on both plans.
Who owns the code you build with Lovable?
You do. Lovable's pricing FAQ states that you own your code, the apps and websites you build, customer data stored in Lovable, and the AI output you generate, subject to third-party rights in the underlying models. If you want that ownership to be portable, the practical step is connecting GitHub sync.
Is there a Lovable student discount?
Yes. Students and teachers at verified academic institutions get 50 percent off for up to twelve months on the Pro plan at 100 credits a month, billed monthly. Verification is done by email domain and is only available to workspaces currently on the Free plan.
What happens to my Lovable app if I downgrade?
Features outside the new plan stop working, but your published app generally stays live. An app published only to workspace members stays up, though Lovable will not publish new changes to it until you make it public or upgrade again. If you hid the Lovable badge, your live site keeps it hidden until the next publish.
What to Watch Next
Lovable ships weekly, and the plan table has changed shape more than once this year. These are the checkpoints worth re-reading before you commit to an annual plan.
- Do the monthly Cloud and AI grants survive? Lovable's documentation calls them a temporary offering, subject to change.
- Does the daily build credit grant stay uncapped on Pro and Business, or does the Free plan's 30 a month cap spread?
- Does the top rung of the Business ladder hold at $4,300 a month, or does volume pricing move again?
- Does the default exclusion of workspace data from model training move down from Business to Pro?
- Do Lovable's published example prompt costs stay at 0.50 to 1.70 credits as the build model changes?
Key Takeaways
- Lovable's price is a meter, not a ticket. One balance covers building, hosting and the AI your shipped app calls at runtime.
- Pro and Business are twelve-rung and eleven-rung ladders, not single prices. Pro starts at $5, Business at $50, both reach 10,000 credits.
- Annual billing carries a real discount: the 100 credit rungs fall from $25 to $21 on Pro and from $50 to $42 on Business.
- Every paid plan adds 5 daily build credits with no monthly cap, worth up to 150 credits a month outside your balance.
- Credits expire. Monthly plan credits last two months, annual credits one month past the period, top-ups twelve months.
- A zero balance pauses your live app's database, storage and authentication, and locks your export until you pay.
- Business is governance, not throughput. Buy it for SSO, role-based access and the default training exclusion.
The meter is the whole idea. Once you stop asking what Lovable costs a month and start asking what your build and your live app consume a month, the plan table answers itself, and you buy the rung you actually stand on. If you have measured your burn and you need the team controls, you can start on Lovable's Business plan, or work with a certified Lovable Expert to get the workspace and its access rules right the first time.
