A ski instructor who also sells lift passes still makes a living from teaching. The commission on a pass is a few extra dollars on top of a day of real work, not the reason to get out of bed in the morning. That is the most useful way to read the Lovable Partner Program, which the company formally launched on September 9, 2026.
The program hands builders who work for clients three things: a certification based on projects they have already shipped, a public directory profile where buyers can find them, and a 10% commission on Business plan subscriptions they bring to Lovable. Around 800,000 people and agencies already build for clients with Lovable, so the launch is less a new opportunity than a rulebook written over a market that formed on its own.
What almost no coverage does is the arithmetic. Ten percent of an entry-level Business plan is five dollars a month. The certification is free, but the seat you need to hold is not. And one clause in the published terms quietly disqualifies a large share of the people you would naturally refer. This guide walks both partner tracks, the real costs checked on September 15, 2026, and the fine print, so you can decide whether to apply, to hire, or to simply start building.
What Is the Lovable Partner Program?
The Lovable Partner Program is the company's formal structure for people and agencies who build software for other people using Lovable. It went live on September 9, 2026 with three visible pieces: an Expert track, a Solution Partner track, and a Partner Directory where prospective clients browse both.
The Expert track is aimed at individual freelancers and agencies under five people who build websites, apps, client portals and internal tools. The Solution Partner track is aimed at established agencies, consultancies and systems integrators running larger transformation programs. Lovable says more than 500 Solution Partners, including Deutsche Telekom and KPMG, signed agreements and began certification in the two months before launch.
Two other routes sit alongside the partner tracks and are easy to mistake for them. The affiliate program pays up to $100 for each first-time subscriber you refer, once, and separate lanes exist for content creators and for community events such as hackathons and workshops.
Four ways to earn with Lovable, checked 15 September 2026
Track | Who it is for | Plan you must hold | What it pays
Expert | Solo builders and agencies under five people | Pro or above | 10% of Business subscriptions, for 12 months
Solution Partner | Larger agencies, consultancies, systems integrators | Business or above | Up to 20% on referred enterprise deals across three tiers, plus 10% on every Business subscription
Affiliate | Anyone sharing a link | None published | Up to $100 per first-time subscriber, paid once
Creators and community | Content makers and event organisers | None published | Program specific, no public rate
The distinction that decides the economics is simple. Experts and Solution Partners earn a slice of what a customer keeps paying. Affiliates earn once and then stop.

Why the Partner Program Matters Right Now
Lovable published survey data alongside the launch, gathered from 3,793 users between August 28 and September 1, 2026. The findings describe a category of work that barely existed three years ago.
A quarter of builders who get paid to build for others say client work is most or all of their income, and half describe it as meaningful side income. Nearly two thirds landed their first client within three months, and more than a third within a single month. More than a third had never made software at all before using Lovable, and Lovable reports they are just as likely to earn most of their income from client work as people who arrived with an agency background.
81% of surveyed builders are based outside the United States, spread across 139 countries, with local small businesses as the largest client group.
Demand is the other half of the picture. Lovable cites McKinsey's 2026 State of AI report, which found that nearly nine in ten companies now use AI somewhere in the business, but fewer than half have rolled it out across the organisation and only just over a third say it has improved the bottom line. That gap between adoption and results is what a partner program is designed to sell into.

How to Become a Certified Lovable Expert
Lovable publishes four steps. The detail that matters is buried in the second and third.
Step 1: Confirm the track fits your size
The Expert track is scoped to solo builders and agencies under five people. If your team is larger, or you sell transformation programs to medium and large businesses, Lovable points you to the Solution Partner track instead. You can self select into either at any time provided you meet the criteria, and switching later only applies the new requirements from the switch onward.
Step 2: Apply from the account you actually build in
Lovable is explicit that both the paid-plan check and the certification are assessed on account activity, so applying from a secondary account with no build history will not work. The application asks for company name, website, headquarters country and team size, and Lovable says it responds by email within five working days.
Step 3: Pass an assessment on work you have already shipped
There is no exam. Certification combines an automated review of your published projects, traffic and build-quality signals with a short set of Academy modules on security, client delivery and search visibility. Two tracks exist, Website builder and App builder, and you can earn either or both. Website builder covers SEO foundations, custom domains and production-ready delivery. App builder covers authentication, database security, edge functions and connectors.
Step 4: Get listed, then earn on what you bring
Certified Experts get a verified directory profile showing the projects behind the badge, which clients browse and contact directly. Lovable is careful to say it cannot guarantee leads. There are no tiers inside the Expert track, so everyone certified is presented the same way.
The cost question has a clean answer. The program and the certification are free, but you must hold a paid plan, Pro or above. On September 15, 2026 the Pro tier starts at $25 a month for 100 credits, with a 20-credit tier at $5 a month below it. Solution Partners have to maintain an active Business subscription or higher, which starts at $50 a month for the same 100 credits.
Lovable answers the commission question directly in its own Expert FAQ, captured 15 September 2026.
What the 10% Lovable Expert Commission Actually Pays
Commission applies only to Business plan subscriptions, and only for 12 months. Lovable's pricing page is JavaScript rendered and the credit tier sits behind a dropdown, which is why third-party summaries of it are so often wrong. Opened in a browser on September 15, 2026, the Business ladder runs from 100 credits at $50 a month up to 10,000 credits at $4,300 a month.
Expert commission by Business tier, based on list prices checked 15 September 2026
Business tier | Price per month | 10% per month | Commission over the 12-month term
100 credits | $50 | $5 | $60
400 credits | $200 | $20 | $240
1,200 credits | $588 | $58.80 | $705.60
3,000 credits | $1,410 | $141 | $1,692
10,000 credits | $4,300 | $430 | $5,160
Two things fall out of that table. The first is that a single entry-level Business referral is worth $60 across a full year, which is a rounding error against a client project fee. The second is that the number only becomes interesting at the top of the ladder, where you are referring a genuine team rather than a solo builder.
There is a pricing quirk worth knowing before you advise a client. At every tier up to 5,000 credits, Business costs exactly twice what Pro costs for the identical credit allowance. Pro gives 100 credits for $25 and Business gives 100 credits for $50. You are paying the second $25 for the controls, not the capacity, so recommending Business to a solo freelancer who only needs credits is bad advice that happens to pay you.
Payment mechanics come from the published terms. Commissions are paid within 45 days of the end of each accrual period, in US dollars. If your total for a period falls below the payment threshold, the amount is not lost but rolls forward until you clear it. The threshold figure itself, along with the commission term and attribution rules, lives in the Program Guide behind the partner login rather than in the public terms, so check it there before you model any income.

Common Mistakes Partners Make
Mistake 1: Mixing two referral mechanisms on one page
Section 6 of the Expert Program Terms says no commission accrues on any referral made using, or in combination with, an affiliate link, affiliate code, or any other Lovable referral, affiliate or partner program. Putting a workspace invite link and a partner link in the same article does not double your chances. It voids the commission on anyone who converts. Pick one mechanism per piece of content and keep it there.
Mistake 2: Assuming existing customers count
The same section excludes any customer that is already, or has previously been, a Lovable customer, except where the Program Guide says otherwise. Most people in your network who would happily upgrade to Business have already signed up for a free or Pro account at some point. In practice this is the clause that most often turns an expected commission into nothing.
Mistake 3: Attaching a discount to the referral
Subscriptions bought using a discount, promotional code or credit are excluded unless the Program Guide expressly permits it. Self-referrals, and subscriptions bought by your own employees or contractors, are excluded too, as are amounts later refunded or charged back.
Mistake 4: Treating commission as the business model
Commission is a tip on work you were doing anyway. The directory listing and the certification are the parts with real commercial value, because they turn a portfolio claim into something a client can verify before a first call. Build the service business, and let the referral income arrive as a by-product. If you want a sense of how that service work gets priced and invoiced, our guide to AI bookkeeping for freelancers covers the admin side.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Lovable Partner Program free to join?
The program and the certification are free. You must hold a paid Lovable plan to participate, Pro or above for the Expert track and Business or above for the Solution Partner track.
Do I need a Business plan to become a Lovable Expert?
No. Lovable states plainly that a Pro plan is all the Expert track requires. The Business requirement applies to Solution Partners.
How much commission does a Lovable certified partner earn?
Experts earn 10% of Business plan subscriptions they refer, for 12 months. Solution Partners can earn up to 20% on referred enterprise deals across three tiers, on top of 10% on every Business subscription they sell, and they keep their own services revenue.
How do I get clients through the Lovable partner directory?
Certified Experts receive a verified profile showing the projects they have shipped on Lovable. Clients browse by the problems a partner solves, review the work, and make contact directly. Clients can also leave reviews once a project completes. Lovable does not guarantee leads.
Can I be a Lovable affiliate and an Expert at the same time?
You can hold both, but you should not combine the mechanisms in the same piece of content. The terms void commission on a referral made in combination with another Lovable referral or affiliate program, so mixing links costs you the payout on that conversion.
Is the certification an endorsement from Lovable?
No. The certification records that an assessment of shipped work was passed. It is not a guarantee or a warranty of the certified partner's services, and partners are not permitted to present it as one.
What to Watch Next
- Whether Lovable publishes the Payment Threshold and attribution window outside the login-gated Program Guide
- Whether the Expert track stays flat, given Lovable currently says there are no tiers within it
- Whether directory reviews accumulate fast enough to rank profiles, since reviews only appear after completed client work
- Whether the exclusion on previously existing customers is relaxed for upgrades from free and Pro to Business
- Whether Business pricing keeps its exact 2x ratio against Pro at matching credit tiers
- The first published payout cycle, and how many certified Experts clear the threshold at all
Key Takeaways
- The Lovable Partner Program launched September 9, 2026 with an Expert track, a Solution Partner track and a public Partner Directory
- Experts are solo builders and agencies under five people; Solution Partners are larger firms running transformation work
- Joining and certifying cost nothing, but Experts must hold Pro, from $25 a month, and Solution Partners must hold Business, from $50 a month, as checked 15 September 2026
- Commission is 10% of Business subscriptions for 12 months, which is $60 a year on an entry-level plan and $5,160 on the top published tier
- Commission does not accrue on discounted subscriptions, self-referrals, customers who were already Lovable customers, or referrals combined with another referral mechanism
- Payouts are made in US dollars within 45 days of each accrual period, and amounts below the threshold roll forward rather than expiring
- The directory profile and the certification are the commercially useful part; the commission is a supplement to client work, not a replacement for it
Back to the ski instructor. The lift-pass commission never built anyone a career. The lessons did. Treat the Lovable Partner Program the same way and the certification becomes what it is genuinely good for, which is proof of shipped work that a client can check before they hire you.
If you are the buyer rather than the builder, you can hire a certified Lovable Expert through the partner directory and see the projects behind the badge first. If you are a team that needs the Business controls, you can compare the current plans on Lovable before you commit to a tier.
